This was an exciting read for sure. But it read like it was glitchy. I know Morrison was going for something like that, but it came off so disjointed. It's a prequel to Batman R.I.P., so if that explains everything, then this got rad real quick. I just need some sort of linear understanding to pick up on the non-linear flashes. Morrison can tell a story, for sure, but it's not always one that interests me. It feels like it's written for someone else a lot of the time. However, Batman mansion murder mystery and Batman sleeper cells? Pretty goddamn cool.

A poor, confusing story ruin the amazing artwork of JH Williams. Subpar Grant Morrison.

It's like CLUE WITH BATMAN!!! If Morrison used the phrase 'red herring' I would be hunting him down to bear his children! Missed opportunity!

I love these earlier stories from Morrison's Batman run that plant seeds that don't come to fruition until much, much later. Now that Batman, Inc is back it's fascinating to go back and see the little clues and plot points he set up way back when.

Here we are. What most folks consider the second volume of Grant Morrison's already legendary run on the Batman title.
We've got it all here, Bat-fans. A volume starting with a story excersizing the detective role that the Batman has become famous for (and seemingly planting the seeds for the "Batman, Incorporated" title) to a soul-searching, trippy, mystical story, the likes of which Morrison has become known for. This book ran the gamut of the Bat's psyche.
The art by J.H. Williams III and Tony S. Daniel was great, as well, fitting the distinct parts of the story that the book was split into.
Again, highly recommended. Fans of Batman, superheroes, the Nolan trilogy of Bat-films, and the creators working on this book should love it.
