I’m just going to say one thing. I don’t like stories where women have crushes on guys who don’t even glance their way so I had hoped maybe just maybe this story would be different. It was not. I liked seeing Jackson trying his hardest to pursue Willa even after hearing that she had waited to give him his first (another thing that irks me) he even jokes about calling her Willow or how instead of ignoring the girl and then making up at the end of the book he apologizes quickly for screaming at Willa after the little scene with his mother but there’s still things that irked me from the book that made me not enjoy it as much as I wanted such as how he ignores her after she asked him if he loved her which goes against what I just said. He is supposed to be the older one (which I thought they were the same age) but he’s just pushing her away instead which I understand somewhat cause of his past however all throughout the relationship he is thinking about leaving Willa because he doesn’t think he is good enough and to me that’s not cute that’s a shitty thing to do to someone especially after hearing how they saved their first times for them. And talking about that, it also didn’t feel like they were having a romantic relationship; it felt like a relationship based on sex after Thea's harasser came to light. It also felt like Willa had to be the caretaker for Jackson like a mother who he can fuck as well because there was no romance afterwards.

Oh, but Willa isn’t innocent in this either. She was also extremely annoying for example I didn’t like reading how much Willa says “I hate Jackson’s mother” or the lines of that and then saying how she doesn’t use the word hate because her parents told her hate is a strong word like I hate reading that to me Willa is like a little chihuahua all bark and no bite basically. Or how every time she kissed or had sex with Jackson she would say “wowza” as if she were Sheldon fucking Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. Or the fact that she called the other girls Jackson slept with as “bimbos and floozies.” Also, the fact that she got butt hurt when Jackson didn’t immediately say I love you to her when he has trust issues. And the most annoying thing was when she thought Jackson was the one all because he fucking bought her favorite candy bar. What candy bar was it? A fucking Snickers. A candy bar that’s fucking popular like I eat that too does that mean I am her soulmate?

I did wish that Jackson punched his mother
after she dropped Ryder (his half-brother)
and having the audacity to ask for money and he gave it to her just because he didn’t want her to come back pissed me the fuck off
like bro she dropped off her kid with you
you could use that against her but then the story had to throw me off
and just casually kill her off
as if this book isn’t a small town. And since I was reading the book with the audiobook it also threw me into a loop hearing the original voice actors for Tattered. I don't know why I thought Devney Perry would change actors because a lot of authors do that. Either way I enjoyed this book more than Tattered.

Enjoyable book! The plot twist was plot twisting and I have to admit I gasped! Spice level 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 3/5  their dynamic was really sweet. Love a good small town romance.

I wish there would have been more the the 3rd act plot twist it felt kinda rushed at the end. I think Willa being a virgin but not being scared to just jump in was amazing. As a “late bloomer” myself it felt real and relatable! Jackson’s character growth was phenomenal, stepping up as big brother melted my heart. I just know he will be the best daddy to their kids! I DO think we should have gotten more POV on Jackson’s thoughts on having to step in to the guardian roll for his younger brother, that would have been nice to really get to know his feelings more.
