This is not the book for me. It’s very slow paced and until the last third or so I was having a hard time staying with it. I also ended up confused about a lot of the characters. As wordy as the book is, I found the characters to be lacking the fleshing out I needed.

Creatively violent, excellent page turner. Enough literature for the literary, plenty of action for the actionary. Highly recommend zipping through this for its woodsy, gritty charm—if Netflix doesn’t grab a hold of this for a miniseries, they don’t know what they’re doing.

Mexican cartels and bear poaching combine for an exciting mix! Maybe not as much action as you would hope for, and the ending felt a little too neat, but the writing gets its hooks in you. In particular the scenes in the forest as the main character 'becomes one with nature' were really well done.
