Review (may contain spoilers): I know I’m in the minority here, but my heart genuinely goes out to Adam. That said, I think we can all agree on at least one thing: we’ve all hated Juliette at some point in this book.

My frustration with Juliette isn’t the typical kind. I actually agree with everything Kenji said to her—he was spot-on. At the same time, I don’t blame her for being afraid of her power. It can kill, and that’s a terrifying burden.

But what really gets under my skin is how she handled things with Adam, especially while clearly being drawn to Warner. Actually, it’s not even how she ended it—it’s why. Yes, I get it: Adam could die if they stayed together. But he was willing to fight for them, to find a solution. Juliette wasn’t. And sure, she claims it was because she loved him too much to risk it. But that kind of noble idiocy doesn’t sit well with me.

What makes it worse is her attraction to Warner. She knows Aaron can touch her without harm, and yet she lets him get close—too close—while still entangled in a messy, unresolved “situationship” with Adam. That alone crosses into emotional cheating territory, especially considering she had already admitted (in the narrative and not to anyone) to being attracted to Warner earlier on.

Then there's the dog scene where Juliette sees Warner smiling while feeding a stray, and cue my first-ever eye roll while reading a book. One glimpse of his softness, and Juliette has conveniently forgotten the trauma he caused her, Adam, and others. Seriously, why are her standards—and frankly, many of our standards as readers—this low? And if this is how their love story is going to blossom, it’s so…ugh.

Then Warner’s temporary “stay” at Omega Point just adds fuel to the already smoldering mess that is Juliette and Adam’s relationship.

Now, I won’t dive too deep into the so-called romance because, honestly, it’s so frustrating and nonsensical that I’ll let you suffer through that rollercoaster yourself. If I have to, you have to too.
Thankfully, once you get past Juliette’s sobfest, the actual plot does pick up. We learn more about Omega Point and meet new characters. And let me just say it: Kenji is the MVP of this book. He’s a breath of fresh air, a grounding presence, and his witty remarks carry the entire story. He’s the main reason I gave this book a 3-star rating (okay, the Adam-Juliette-Warner tension helped a bit too).

And you know what they say about funny characters… 😭

Then we meet the Supreme Commander, who seems to have similar psychotic tendencies like his son. Or should I say one of his sons? That twist genuinely caught me off guard, and suddenly, he became one of the few characters I want more story from. And by “few,” I mean exactly two: Kenji and the Commander. Seriously, how did a man like him manage to charm not one, but two women?!

Anyway, this review is choppy and chaotic but when you unravel the book, it’s kind of like that. *shrugs*

I forgot how beautiful and wonderful and devasting this series is, and this book was no exception. I loved the plot, the character growth, and all of the twists and turns. I really wish I had a time machine so I can read Ignite Me right now.

Awfull, I may try agein not sure
medium-paced

2.5 rounded up to 3? I wanted to like this series so badly. The first book has such a great start and premise. But honestly I’m only interested in the unhinged villains at this point :/

*sighs and begrudgingly starts the 3rd book just for the sometimes evil sometimes sweet handsome antagonist drama*
