Appealing novelization of the life of an unappealing man, the slightness of the story is offset by the interesting window into early nineteenth century life near Cambridge, England.

I loved the character of Nell and the wonderful sense of time and place but I found Rupert irritating and self-centered. I did enjoy, however, the part of the story regarding his connections to Tahiti and the time he spent there.

I didn't find this book compelling enough to finish. Maybe I didn't give it a good enough chance but I just couldn't really relate to the story...

I really enjoyed this book based on the prose, poems and letters of Rupert Brooke. Jill Dawson was very clever to interpret these documents in order to form the character. I loved the characters, but ultimately found Nell Golightly a more interesting character. A good read, easy to read. I would recommend it.
