Loved this one. It had all the feels and pure Kristen Ashley magic. I thought Hix was going to be an a** at first but after learning his struggle it only made it better to watch their love story unfold. As with many of her stories, there were great friends that I liked almost as much as Hix and Greta.

2019 read

Still loved every second of this story. Hix was a jerk but not a jerk jerk more of a clueless jerk. But once he got it he hung in and I loved that. And I loved Shaw

This screamed classic KA. I really enjoyed it. Some o the drama I could have lived without but I loved the love ❤️. I love that KA makes me not only invested in the MC but now I’m hoping for every kid to get a HEA as well. And maybe even Hope.

OK but I loved this?

there were a couple teeny tiny things I could bitch about, but overall this was awesome

loved hix & greta, and hix's kids and andy (and the towns folk too)

book was 18.5h long but I flew thru it and did not feel that long or like a chore at all

Please note: this rating was made in another time, by another Kristina.
Since THIS Kristina doesn’t want to reread, it’s gonna stay as is.
FYI: this book is not safe. Ow drama, hero acts like an asshole three times, heroine is a doormat and continues to take him back. Or for those of you familiar with the author; it’s a Kristen Ashley Special.

Love this book!! Greta and Hixon were amazing and I couldn’t get enough of this small town romance. I love KAs books and this is now a favorite for me! Definitely recommend!

Lordy this was sweet. It was fun and suspenseful and heartfelt.

Honestly basically like every Kristen Ashley book... It makes me wanna re-read some Rock Chick.

A note about listening to audiobooks:
This was my first! I definitely agree with Stacey in that I think I'd like it more if it was a re-read, I definitely had to rewind a couple times cause I missed something. I also found that the narrator's voices both had ups and downs, as in, sometimes I liked them and sometimes they got annoying. I think the male voice wasn't great at doing female voices (although it isn't that surprising). Other than that, he was great and I really liked listening to him. The female voice was kind of the opposite. She was surprisingly good at the male voices, but sometimes her scratchy/breathiness that she did just got on my nerves and I was thankful for that the next chapter was by Hixon.

Greta was lovely. She was really just a great person. Nice and understanding. Maybe a little too perfect? I don't know, she didn't really have any faults I can think of. I wouldn't count her mother as a character flaw. So apart from her being sweet and lovely, she was also just very.... not boring... but forgettable almost? I was hoping they were gonna do something about how she felt like Keith always gave and she never gave but KA never really brought that up as an issue between Hix and Greta so Idk.

Hixon was also awesome. He was a great dad and a great man. His major flaw is his ex-wife. But he gave GREAT grovel at the beginning/middle. I LOVED that. Like SO MUCH. GIMME GROVEL YES THANK YOU. After the initial parts that he messed up though, he was pretty perfect.

I loved the kids, as always, KA writes great kids. I loved their relationships and complexities and also dating life (
Spoilerespecially that scene with Shawn and Greta at the end
).

I TOTALLY called the
SpoilerKeith
scene. I could feel it in my bones. There was a KA I read kind of recently that had an ex/previous partner that DIDN'T end up showing up and I was honestly shocked. But I knew it was gonna happen this time. And that scene was freaking great. I love when
Spoilermen realize they lost a good thing. The song When I Was Your Man LITERALLY makes me cry every time I hear it
.

I thought the murder investigation was really well done and that interrogation scene totally made me cry.

And the epilogue was great, also made me cry. KA is good at that....

I'm looking forward to re-reading it when the ebook comes out in November!

WOW

This book was a huge surprise. Complicated is one the best book KA has written, and I’ve read many of her books. It’s a roller coasters of emotions, but so worth. This will be on my re-read list.
