In all honesty, I don't really know how to describe this book. I feel like it's my guilty pleasure, because even I made fun of myself for reading it. Even though I say that, I know that I'm going to read the second one.

The plot of this book was half expected, half not. Lisa is a cook working for a cooking show and lives in San Francisco along with a golden dragon in the guest bedroom of her apartment. The local witch coven made up of Saba, Grizelda, and Donna have bound Caleb (the golden dragon) to protect Lisa, but have not given him the ability to leave the guest bedroom which acts as a portal to Dragonspace (the dimension *not entirely sure what I should call it* that dragons exist in). There is a black dragon in San Francisco who is trying to find Lisa, and supposedly cause the end of the world with the Dragon Orb. All Malcolm wants to do is go back to his lands in Dragonspace, but the witches bound him here, rendering him nearly powerless, but the Orb would help him go home, on the condition that the earth would be destroyed. One of the witches gets marked by Malcolm, putting her under his control. Lisa, Caleb, Saba, and Malcolm work together to find the Orb and stop the witches from absorbing its power.

I liked Malcolm so much. He was a really well written character, and I enjoyed watching his development. I felt that Caleb and Lisa were good together but Caleb fell a little flat for me, until the end when he begins talking about his son. I honestly couldn't stand Donna. I felt that she was one dimensional and was the stereotypical "bad guy"

I found this in a used bookstore and since dragons are what I am reading these days, I bought it. It was quite interesting. It was nice to have a dragon book to read while I was getting my hair done at the hairdresser.

This is the first book I read by this author and it was good. I enjoyed it. The characters seemed well rounded and they developed nicely throughout the story. You could really follow each character through its transformation from introduction to end. I also loved the suspense of the plot which was subtle but there. I do have to admit, that it wasn__t the best story. The book was overly long and some parts of the story were actually winding, but overall the book kept me hooked. I__m still not sure, if I__m going to read on in this series, though.

Quite enjoyable. Probably more of a 3 and a half but I have a soft spot for dragon shifters and villains that become good guys with hints of their own books.

This started out pretty silly, but it warmed up and ended quite well.
