Wonderful story and loved this retelling of the Little Mermaid. I couldn't get enough of the Sea Witch and I really liked Averil's determined and curious nature that didnt shy away from difficult things. I loved this so much I want to read more books on other characters in this realm!

Overall this was a fun and original take for a retelling. The spice was SPICY. Especially the scene on the beach (iykyk)

My main drawback on this though is that it didn’t need to be as long as it was. The main story wrapped up nicely at about 75% and the rest just felt a bit dragged out for no reason whatsoever. The final 5 chapters I was a bit like ‘yeah whatever, just end already’. There were scenes that could have been lightly summed up in a few sentences in an epilogue or something and it kind of ruined the whole vibe of the book for me…

I’d still recommend it to a friend though

Sometimes it was a little predictable..but it was a good read! The spice was crazy! Imagining everything that was going on...the tentacles, crazy in the best way!
