eeeaaahhh, i give it a solid 3. This story is a good story, I never knew of this shipwreck but i am just learning about it. I see how they tried to connect this part of history with the rest of the book but it was like a history lesson to me. it was just ok.
I often leave stars for my reviews but rarely write an actual review. However, this book is one that touched me to the core. Learning about the lives of the people that survived this terrible tragedy and how they survived was inspiring. Realizing that how we survive tragedy and what we deal with it afterwards shows who we truly are brought tears to my cheeks. I would gladly give this book more than five stars if I could

This is a beautiful story about the timeless human experience of tragedy. It included accounts of unfortunate circumstances that occurred both centuries ago and in the modern world. It explores the phenomenon of fate while trying to understand how tragedy influences a person’s life. With deep roots in the issues that stemmed the civil war and how they still resound centuries later.

I loved this book. Love when I can learn some history and be entertained too.
Surviving Savannah is about the sinking of the Pulaski, which I knew nothing about. Callahan does a great job weaving a current day story in with the past. Much of the novel focuses on what kind of a person someone becomes after a tragedy. This book would make a great book club pick.
