3.75 ⭐️ Historical fiction is not typically my cup of tea, but Surviving Savannah is a well-written dual timeline novel about a real-life shipwreck that mostly captured my attention. I thought that the chapters set in the 1800s were a bit more interesting than the modern-day ones, but overall, I learned from and enjoyed this book.

I loved the historical aspect of this book and to find it was all based on real history was really cool. I had never heard of the Polaski. I thought the dual timeline was a fun way to tell the story but I found Everly’s story a bit cheesy toward the end, especially after the dive. Overall, an easy and informative read but not my favorite of Patti Callahan’s.
I really enjoy reading historical fiction when it's about a topic I know absolutely nothing about. This was a fascinating story and the author beautifully weaves different timelines and storylines into one impressive book. This story makes you think about how do you survive a tragedy? Do you decide to move on with good or evil in your heart? Excited to read more of her books.

I really wanted to love this book but the way the story wads told want for me. It reallly dragged- there is no sense of urgency or curiosity because both storylines are told more like a biographical account than a novel.
