There's no way I can recommend this book enough. Who do I think should read it? Parents, teachers, medical professionals, social workers, any care giver, and anyone who cares about people and society.
Dr. Burke Harris has taken a subject that is heavily based in medicine and made it accessible and interesting for any layperson. Not only does she explain how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) affect our health and biology, but she also gives us an incredibly personal glimpse into the joys and obstacles involved in creating a community practice and an organization dedicated to education and healing.
I had never heard of ACEs and toxic stress before three days ago but I don't think I'll ever forget about it.

I want to buy this book so I can reread it whenever i want. It was that good.
This book introduced a new simple idea of how stress system works and it was brilliant.
I recommend it especially to people who enjoy developmental psychology.
