Devoured in a day = a funny tasty treat. Likable heroine, smart & sassy; not surprised there's now a series however this book can be read as a stand-alone.

I read this on my way to and from class in two days. It's a light read even though it's about flesh-eating zombies. Which I wasn't aware of until they started eating. I really should read the blurb more often.

Anyway. The blurb dramaticizes the book a bit in my opinion. It is fast paced, but at times it feels a little concidental. Kate accidentally discovers the antidote, and so on. It also could have needed some more pages I believe. At times it was simply too fast. Too much was happening at once.

Character development ... well. The novel describes the course of maybe a week or a little more than that. After going through a Zombie encounter people are bound to change. But the novel ends too soon to actually tell a difference. Some characters are not even mentioned after the disaster (I'm thinking of Kiki here).

But this is most likely going to happen in Kate Grable #2. I enjoyed reading Bad Taste in Boys, although I think the title and the cover hardly fit to the book itself. However that is just my opinion.

I liked that the romance was not as important as it usually is. Kate actually forgets about her love interest at one point, and he's not as prominent as the love interest usually is in a YA book these days. Very refreshing.

This was much better than expected.
This book deals with a zombie like virus. I know the Z word makes many readers roll their eyes and not give the book a try. BUT GIVE THIS BOOK A TRY. It's a short read and worth it. I gave it a 3.75 stars.

Characters:
Kate- our main female character is a brave and determined science genius. She is considered a nerd but because of her brain, many owe her their lives.

Jonah- Kate's little brother that she views as an annoyance to her life, nonetheless she loves him unconditionally. Jonah was my favorite character. His love for his sister is unbelievable. He stood up for her and stood by her side over and over again. He has a good heart and it definitely made the book better for me.

Aaron- Our love interest. So I feel that the love interest didnt over run the story. That is an important aspect for me. We really did focus on curing 'zombies' for most of the book. Aaron was a popular jock, but didnt get caught up in the popularity game, and showed his true self while helping Kate.

Kiki/Rocky- Supportive friends and a true show of friendship

REVIEW: http://theliteraturelion.blogspot.com/2012/07/review-bad-taste-in-boys-by-carrie.html

There's only a couple of words to describe this book, and here's two for you: fricken hilarious. This book made me laugh quite a bit, and I was surprised by that! The cover looks so enticing, and the summary gives you a hint that it's gonna be funny - but holy cow! It was a super fun read, that went by really quick, which I'm sad/happy about!

Kate's a super-smart, sleuthing, hilarious character that I could not get enough of! I loved seeing a smart character! I've been quite obsessed with them lately! Makes me feel like I'm not the only girl out there who cares about weird science things! To be honest, she was kind of bad-ass too. She was able to take down those zombies with quick thinking and a bit of power! KATE FOR PRESIDENT. KATE FOR PRESIDENT. Well maybe not president, but maybe a super cool doctor...? Yeah?

The other characters in this were super hilarious - from all the football players, Rocky, Jonah and Aaron! All the relationships in this are super funny to read about as well! Especially Rocky, I loved her!

Also, it was pretty darn cool because this was the first book I've read that has used my boyfriend's last name! It's not a very popular last name, and it was a football player's name that's only mentioned once. But hey! - I still thought it was pretty darn cool!

I definitely can't wait for Bad Hair Day! I'm excited to see where this one is headed between Kate and Aaron, and then the super weird creatures! I know that Bad Hair Day will be the same length, which is kind of a disappointment, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it just as much!

This is kind of like a funny weird book about zombies. It was O.K. but that's just it and I liked it. I felt like it really wasn't going anywhere; very short read.

Rated only 3 stars because I liked it; I didn't fall in love nor did it blow me away. It's funny though :)

This was an enjoyable fast-pased read. Good to read when you have a couple hours to spare for some fun and laughs.

After months and months of waiting for my library to get this book in, I was expecting a lot from this book. And I wasn't disapointed. Although I have no idea what the cover even has referance to. Sugary lips? uh no, there was not mention of anything like that in this Zombie infested book. I mean Kate and Arron only kiss like 3-4 times in this fast pace book, so it's not like that has enough relavence to be cover worthy?

I almosted rated this book five stars, but it seemed like a little unfair to the totally serious books I've rated five stars. I mean, I loved this book, but I mostly liked it for the humor, and the zombies. This book literally had me laughing out loud at least twice in every chapter. All of the characters were completely adorable, except Mike. Can't really have feelings for a butt groper who throws up black stuff all over your car and then bites a chunk or someone's lip off. Yeah, that's just not cool.

As a side note, I'd just like to say that this is the only Zombie book I've ever enjoyed, and is defiently worth spending money to buy. (:

Kate Grable is a student trainer for her high school's football team. Not because she's a football fan, but because it's one step closer to med school. When one of the football players vomits black goo onto her car at a party she assumes he's had too much to drink. When he appears to die and then revives she thinks it's a little odd. It's when he tries to kiss her and bites a chuck out of her lip she really starts to get worried. It turns out that football players have been injected with a performance enhancing drug and it's changing them into zombies. Now Kate has to find the cure before the virus spreads through her high school.

I gave this book five stars because it's fun, plain and simple. It's a zombie-filled romp with gore and ick and a cute romance. Think Shaun of the Dead for teens.
