This feels like the beginning of the second era of Pratchett. A long book, successfully balancing multiple characters, drawing on existing continuity without being weighted by it.

Has nailed writing women, and has introduced the Troll/Dwarf tension that underlies a lot of the more popular books.

This was a really fun read! Twas giggling the whole way through (almost).

We were so bad about predicting where this was going. One of the many appreciable qualities that Terry Pratchett's writing displays is his absolute mastery of tone.
