It’s good, but the examples given are dated and hard to relate to. Found myself doing my own research to find modern applicable examples.

will I use any of this knowledge anytime soon? no, no I won't. are my feelings validated about what I think some of my previous employers messed up? yes, they absolutely were.

Although it's focused on business, it's still a great book with a lot of interesting principles about how to improve what we do. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone trying to run any business things but even as a personal improvement sort of book, it's still very enjoyable.

Update: Read the book again as part of training at my new job. I think my old thoughts still stand. It's a great book for finding more focus in business or other long-term pursuits.

Good information in the key concepts.  Examples can feel VERY dated at times, you have to keep in mind when the book was written while reading.  Could have been about half as long and more effective if he didn't repeat himself so much.

I was given direction to read this book on the strong recommendation that it would help to develop the skills necessary to run a successful business. However, it felt like child's play. Every topic the book mentioned felt so painfully obvious (hire people who have a passion for the job, weed out the troublemakers, etc.) that I just couldn't make it through. Luckily, each chapter held a recap page depicting the key points, which saved me hours of otherwise wasted time.
