This was interesting. I found myself really connecting with one story over the others, and wondering why certain characters got more written time. I really liked certain parts, and really disliked other parts. A quick read and more sexually explicit than I usually get into.

To start off my review, I really enjoyed reading this book and found it extremely interesting. I liked the style, the fictional prose and the themes explored. However my problems with the book are the endorsements. This book is promoted as revelation on female desire so often ignored in mainstream mediums. Sexuality is too often expressed in heteronormative terms and through a male gaze, women are objectified and their agency denied. This book is no different in what is portrayed . These three women want to enjoy their bodies and explore their desires but it is overshadowed by men's desires put upon them. Misogyny and gender norms dictate their sexual history. Now these are themes i think should be explored but there is nothing new here feminst havn't been writing about for years. I have deducted 1 star for putting in fifty shades of grey and pinning it up as some kind of positive for sexual awakening and being empowering to women. This is not to say that one cannot be submissive and a free, liberated feminist, just that that book glorifys domestic and sexual violence and wraps them up as passion and love. I don't know what the authors intention were but this book is three women who want to enjoy sex but havn't, as men abused and used them.

An effective exploration of the impacts of the patriarchy on female relationships&desire. Very much depicted women’s sexualities being for other people, and the low standards women set for desire, love, and romance. The book felt extremely distant, which makes sense in a way (for the characters and how they related to themselves, the world, others), but personally detracted from my enjoyment of the book. The book was quite bleak in terms of the facets of female desire depicted, which is fine but not something I was particularly drawn to at that moment. Effective in the way that it depicted exploitation, but something about the book was off for me that I can’t quite place. Perhaps it was structural? Am unsure.
