Very rushed. Too much I love you—I hate you. Going from running away for 2 months to sexy time with barely any groveling. It was just not enough for me, and it fell a bit flat.

Compared to the first book this was a disappointment because I did enjoy the first one. This book felt like it was rushed and had plot holes. The fmc had her own mind only half the time if at all being manipulated, she was angry and realized wrong things and the next she was suddenly okay with it without any questions. It reminded me too much of 50 shades of grey but darker almost like a fan-fiction. The spice scenes were okay but some moments felt like its the wrong timing and just wasn't it.

This duet started with fire. Dark obsession. Emotional damage. Forbidden love. Everything I crave in a dark romance.
But book two lost its way. Calista uncovers Hayden’s lies and runs. Another threat ties back to Hayden’s own haunted past. Injuries and betrayal push Calista toward the truth about her father’s death.
From there, the plot frayed. Hayden’s actions stopped making sense. The six-week hunt felt hollow. Character arcs were rushed and important connections were left dangling. Sadly, the emotional payoff crumbled.
So repetitive, didn’t keep my attention. MMC came off way too strong, there was some plot but nothing I found of interest.

3.25 okay actually wtf was this lol.... The first book was so good and then this was the follow up? I feel like most of my questions were left unanswered and the FMC was dumb af. The plot was not as good as the first book but the little plot that it did have is what made me not absolutely despise this book.
