2 out of 5 stars

My first book of 2025 and I'm already disappointed.

Dont get me wrong, the spice was spicy but this book aggravated me so much. I may enjoy dark romance more than half the time but there was a lot of elements in here where I draw the line in terms of fiction. Tampering with her birth control?! Tattooing his name on her without her consent?! It just got to a point where I started to feel bad for the FMC as the story progressed but the absolute worst part of it was at the end when she admits to Hayden that she's pregnant and THEN he promises to be better for them!

This is my own personal opinion but men should not promise to be better only after they are expecting to be fathers. It's the worst.

Callie finds herself at the mercy of another stalker... this time it's not her lover Hayden... this time it's the very person who framed her father! Callie feels suffocated by Hayden's protectiveness and constantly battles her own thoughts and concerns surrounding his dark behaviour, but together they take on the common enemy, as they forge a bond that brings light from the darkness.

i mean it’s a book yk. nothing too crazy, considering i rated the first book 2 stars i wasn’t expecting this book to be much better. i wasn’t a big fan of the pregnancy trope but i liked how protective he was of her/it. overall it wasn’t a bad book but it wasn’t the best dark romance i’ve ever read.

I don’t know how i feel about this book. I did finish it in less than 24 hours because it was like a train wreck you can’t look away from. I couldn’t tell you if this is better or worse than the first book. The ending felt rushed. The best part of this series was Harper.
I love a morally grey mmc but a morally grey mmc the blatantly disregards anything the fmc says or wants, disrespects her boundaries, and treats her like an object not a person is a no for me. The birth control tempering to trap her almost had me dnf the book. Then the fact that Calista simply forgave Hayden for offing her father just made it 100 times worse
