I loveeee that we just pick right off where book 1 ended I really enjoyed this one, I mildly wish there had been a little more groveling but I think we all know Hayden will really only do so much 🤣 I will say as psycho and controlling as he is his personality I feel really compliments Calista’s and she’s into it so who really cares? But also Harper will forever be my fave a true ride or die with enough quippy one liners to carry the whole book if she had to

First of all the author offering a sneak peak into the MMCs world once every 5-10 chapters is really irritating. Either devote equal time to both or just tell a one sided story.

I feel like 2 stars is generous, the FMC is like a broken record of "I can't trust him but I want to shag" like jesus woman. As far as I can tell she actually hates the guy but really likes the sex.

The MMC is effectively the kid that licks every cupcake to claim them all for himself. He's like "I licked I own her" and that's pretty much all you get whenever he does sporadically get a chapter to himself.

If you've been in an obsessive, non consenting relationship some things in this book are upsetting rather than "spicy". But if you can look past that and know some people love the fantasy - its a good book.

Yeah this just wasn’t as good as the first one. Like I wish that the announcement that he killed her father was a bigger deal like it felt like it was no big deal. Like I wanted pain and destruction like

(This is how I would have liked the scene to go.)

I get that she ran away but after he saw her I wish she ran away the moment she woke up from the hospital and then he like finds her later. Or even when the gun is thrown across the room I wish she picked it up and killed Russel and then held the gun to Hayden and she’s all like “tell me the truth did you kill him” and all the dramatics and then she’s like “I’m leaving you” and then he approached her and grabs the gun and points it at his chest with her finger on the trigger and is all like “if you want to leave me then pull the trigger because I can’t live this life without you so do me a favor and kill me because I can never let you leave”

Just my opinion on what should have happened and if anyone knows a book that has kinda the same scene please comment because I want it to be real.

I wouldn't say this was a favorite, nor would I say this was a dislike. The ending was kinda cute, but all the things in the middle (maybe even the beginning) just didn't make a good plot for the book. I was hoping for more resistence from Calista, maybe even a tantrum or way of fighting back, espacially after the three different things that Hayden had done to her. Hell, even not talking to him. Making him feel like a monster. Mainly due to the fact that Calista has a strong soul and was independent (according to both Harper and Hayden). She was the polar opposite in this book. She said she was "in love" with him. It's not love but trauma bonding due to what happened to her father, the "mysterious" stalker, being drugged, and all the drama in between. The book had good bits, but I wasn't smiling, laughing or gasping like I had with the first book Once You're Mine. Overall, I don't think I would recommend this or make it another re-read.
