What a fantastic first volume. Something is Killing the Children is a great comic with amazing art. The story-telling is catchy and serious at the same time. You fall in love with the characters really easily, and their development is fulfilling yet makes you want more. I would definitely recommend this comic to anyone who likes a mysterious lone wolf protagonist and has a thirst for monster hunting.

"We're going to need weapons. LOTS of weapons."

Chillingly crafted with dark and horrifying artwork, this gives you the creeps in all the right ways. Erica is an awesome badass with a heart which I hope won't get her into trouble in future volumes. Ending on a cliff hanger  - definitely need to get to Volume 2!

I really enjoyed this!! Another one of Tynion’s books that I am immediately very captivated by. Again there’s a lot of great atmosphere and sprinkles of worldbuilding that make me want to rush back to my library and get my hands on volume two. I think that the only thing that makes this a 4.5 and not a 5 for me is Erica’s characterization? I understand that this volume only collects part of the narrative, and I’m sure she’ll continue to grow as the story progresses, but I felt like there was a lot about her motivations that I didn’t fully understand, and to do the things she does I feel like that’s something I need to have a stronger grasp of. But again, it’s a chilling yet exciting ride and I’m excited to keep reading! I’m sure Erica will blossom more as the series progresses.

I loved this comic and will definitely be ordering volume 2 soon.
James Tynion is by far one of my favorite comic authors and he does not disappoint here.

Something is Killing the Children is a creepy, gory graphic novel set in a small town. This story has a bit of a Stranger Things vibe since it's about a small town where strange things are happening and children are disappearing or winding up dead and dismembered.

One boy, on the night of a slumber party at his house, ends up being the only survivor amongst his friends after something attacks them in a ravine behind his house. The town is divided as to whether the boy killed his friend. Then a mysterious young woman arrives in town looking to track down what is killing the children...

I liked this. It was gory and there was some adult language so it is definitely for a more mature audience. I recommend this if you are looking for a creepy read with things that go Rrrrrrrrrrrrr in the night.

I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This felt too short. We just got introduced to the setting, some characters, some peek into the world. And then it's over. Also, I know shades of mystery is great for horror, especially creature horror, but the fight scene at the end felt like it happened against a blob. I don't understand how the fight even went down. And it seemed like it was supposed to be a greater threat than anticipated, but it was also just over, dealt with just as quickly.
