I love Michael Pollan's writing. I found this book absolutely fascinating. All of the sections were interesting, but the section on poppies was so engaging that I raced through it compared to the others. I liked that Pollan was thoughtful in his discussion of peyote as a sacred plant for Native Americans and the statement that non-native folks should not use peyote as that is another form of stealing from a group that we have already stolen so much from. Additionally, I listened to it so I can't recall for sure, but in the acknowledgements it sounded like there was an indigenous content reviewer.
