I really loved this book. I had an incredibly hard time putting it down. I felt the same about two of her other books I've read as well. I'm always just propelled to figure out what happened next and next and next..

I am writing this review after re-reading this novel for the second time in preparation to read the fourth book in the series; before the fifth book comes out soon. So, contextually, I was more aware of the on-going side ploys and easter eggs this time around.

First, I would like to offer a suggestion for those just starting this series. Try to read the books sequentially. There is a lot of depth, complexity, and tongue in cheek irony you may miss by not reading the novels within one right after the other. I personally felt quite lost trying to read the third book a year after I'd read the second.

Now, for the story line. It's intriguing and unique, very fast paced and exciting. Armstrong fans will recognize a few of her favourite tropes - government conspiracies, brusque male characters with troubled backgrounds but soft hearts, and lots of mythology. For the most part I think the plot jives, even with an ending that leaves many a questions unanswered. The real standout for me with this series is the weaving in of welsh and gaelic dialect as clues to the overarching mystery.

Also, I have to say, fae and serial killers? An incredibly interesting premise.

I wanted to like this more than I did, since Kelley’s mysteries are usually superb. Here’s to hoping the sequels are better!

I love Kelley Armstrong. I always have, and always will. Omens is a series I only came across via goodreads, but I'm glad I did come across it, and I'm lucky my library orders every Kelley Armstrong book that is released.

Omens definitely didn't disappoint. i can't wait to continue and read Visions, and then Deceptions. Kelley Armstrong is unforgettable, and I am definitely going to read more of her.

Olivia is someone that people hate. But, she doesn't want sympathy; she just wants the truth, which makes her really admirable. Gabriel is mysterious, arrogant, and different. I was instantly intrigued by his character and personality, and I'm sure you will be too.

Kelley Armstrong write everything. Before Omens I'd only read Young Adult Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance by her, but she has proven that she has expert research skills and she can also write absolutely brilliant murder mysteries as well.

Olivia’s life should be perfect the daughter of a wealthy family, the perfect fiancé she’s been able to focus on school and her volunteering. When the truth suddenly comes out about her birth parents her life is thrown upside down into a downward spiral. Olivia who had no idea she was even adopted learns that her birth parents are convicted serial killers. Her perfect life is falling apart her mother is freaking out her fiancé wants to put off their marriage and all she can do is run away from the media storm intent on wanting the story.

Olivia heads off to find herself ending up in Cainsville hoping to hide her identity but the locals already know more than they are letting on. She meets Gabriel Walsh her mother’s former lawyer who didn’t get her out with the last appeal. Pamela Larsen claims that she’s innocent and convinces Olivia to look into the murders and prove her innocence. As Olivia dives deeper into the murders she learns more about the murders as well as more about the town of Cainsville. Will she be able to prove her parents are innocent? What’s really going on in Cainsville.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about Olivia at first I expected her to be a high socity girl but she’s far from it which I found refreshing and made her more real. As the book progressed I just really loved who Olivia was as a person even if her parents are brutal serial killers she doesn’t let it get her down. I liked Gabriel right away he may be a little out for himself but deep down he’s good at what he does. I also really loved the community of Cainsville they are a little odd but I found it interesting and I couldn’t wait to learn more about the town.

I’ve had Omens on my TBR list since I first caught sight of the cover because Kelley Armstrong is one of my favorite authors. I knew what to expect from the author so I had high expectations and she doesn’t disappoint with another exciting new series. Omens is a captivating thriller that draws the reader in right from the start loaded with suspense and supernatural elements that create a hard to put down story. The characters are easy to connect with I really was sucked into Olivia’s story and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I love a good thriller with the supernatural aspects it’s a creepy story that was exactly what I wanted. The author has created another amazing must read series that may be my new favorite. I can’t wait to see what happens next for Olivia next I already have the next book on my kindle ready to go.

If you like:
-Mysterious small town vibe
-Slytherin leads solving crimes
-Mysteries, twists and thrills, mixed with the paranormal, stretching back years.
-Captivating, developed characters.
-Dynamic relationships filled with snark
-A world to get lost in
Then Cainsville is that series.

2.5 for the series in its entirety. This started as a good story. It had few good elements, but it was ruined by the author's choice to stretch it beyond what's necessary. And the romance!! just horrible.
