Honestly, this was fantastic, would genuinely be one of the best books I read this year. The only hold back is just how unbelievably millennial the characters are. That being said it makes all the characters feel like actual people.
And the one star reviews talking about how "cringe" the MC was for being open to the idea that her child may end up being trans is NOT the cringy part of this book. If that's what bothered you just say you're transphobic and move along to some other book. I promise you this book has actually cringy stuff in it but being accepting of trans people is not it.
For real tho I loved the plot, the characters felt real no matter how annoying I thought they were at some times, and It just felt warm.
Might not be everyone's cup of tea but if you can get past the millennial cringe then you'll be okay lol

I loved this book - it was so close to being a 5 star read!

First of all, Shep. Love him. One of my absolute favorite MMCs of all time. He was just. so. perfect.

Second, the narration was fantastic. Alex Finke did a phenomenal job of bringing the book and all the characters to life. She didn't just narrate the book, she acted the book. It was a really great experience as a listener and I hope she starts narrating more books!

Third, the story was interesting, the characters were loveable, intelligent, and mature, and the relationships were functional, which I found to be refreshing given that so many characters in modern romance books come across as flighty / immature / dumb and so many relationships are dysfunctional and completely unrealistic. Hooray for authors who portray their characters as real, functioning members of society!

I didn't really know what to expect going into the book...honestly, it was the cover that hooked me and after reading the synopsis I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. I highly recommend, but a couple things worth mentioning - there's a decent amount of language, a couple open door spicy scenes, and infertility is a subtopic, so be aware if any of those are things you avoid. If you do check it out, I recommend the audio version...seriously, it's so good!

Ohhhh, this was supremely lovely. It’s about love in all its forms, from romantic to platonic to parental. I adore Shep, and everything he is, and I adore Eve’s journey throughout this book. Pregnancy and growing into the person you want to be are both really hard, so it was amazing watching Eve do both at the same time. A truly wonderful book that I won’t hesitate to recommend.
