I don't know if I can recall a book I've ever read where I can be so complimentary of the design of the thing. The story unfolds in a "found footage" kind of way, with an FBI agent reviewing a top secret dossier put together by a mysterious archivist. They pull out all the stops....journal entries, maps, government files, newspaper articles, magazine stories, etc....all given an authentic look and thoroughly footnoted by our FBI reviewer.
Fun stuff, but you have to have seen the first 2 seasons of the show. Frost weaves wonderfully between the characters from his show and into history....tracking some of the mysteries from the show back to the town's origin and even back to Thomas Jefferson and Merriweather Lewis.
