Haunted House, Gothic Horror Vibes, Historical Mexico in like the 1800s? Forbidden Romance (Good Lord) & the decisions to move forward in life, which means marrying that one rich guy whose first wife died.
I loved Vampires of El Norte which took place in multiple locations. In this story however, everything revolves around the Hacienda, which is by far, my favorite character in the book. A little predictable, but the ride was enjoyable.
The author has a way of writing in a flowing chilling matter that I appreciate. One downfall: they mentioned "stucco" one times too many lol.

I love this book! I read it in one sitting. The characters were so well-written. Beatriz wasn't the typical "help me, I'm weak" female character that I've come to loathe. She felt so real. Her actions made sense. The horror was spot on, the setting was vibrant, and the pacing was perfect. I love this book.
