What a melancholy book. The Dinner List is a story about love, loss, and friendship. Sabrina, who struggles with grief from being left behind, gets to have a dinner with five people dead or alive. During the dinner she must choose whether she is ready to heal herself and forgive and let go. Rebecca Serle does a beautiful job tackling these less than fun topics making Sabrina relatable to so many.
Serle has mastered the art of magical realism. This is my third read of hers and she always does such a great job of intertwining the real world with just a little bit of magic. Even though I liked this one, I would not recommend it if you are wanting a romcom.

The author narrated the book and she is... not a voice actor! There was minimal emotion/inflection in her voice, no differentiation between characters and overall it made it difficult to listen to. I might try to read a physical book rather than listen to it, but I won't for a bit.

I sort of cared about these characters, thought it was a good premise, a short weekend read, but overall sort of forgettable :/
