Vivid, absorbing, intense. This one is a wild ride of violence, deceit, betrayal, power, and a love that couldn’t exist among it all. A masterpiece of human fallibility.

Was struggling to read, the long run-on sentences were hard to keep track of.

My batting average is not high when I grab something off of the 7-day shelf on a whim, and this did not raise it.

3.5 stars. Reads like a movie, but I think I might have preferred it as a film! The story centers on an epically flawed heir to a gang. His fall from grace annoyed me more than anything and the more compelling character - love interest, Neda - was sidelined too quickly. But the majority of the book kept me intrigued.

Until the end, when the story gets entangled in all sorts of other backstories in a way that felt a bit rushed and ultimately I felt the writing didn’t hold up here.

I have very mixed feelings about this book. Overall, I was drawn in and enjoyed the interwoven stories. I felt let down by the ending, which was abrupt and unsatisfying. What ever happens with Vicky? Why was a character like Sunil added with so much backstory in the last 100 pages? What about Neda? I would probably give it 3.5 stars which I’ve rounded up to 4.

Weird book. I found the characters flat and stereotypical, and it was a struggle to complete. Apparently this may be the first in a trilogy, and I can't say I'd pick up the rest. I could see it being a fine movie though! I don't think this book needed to be as long as it was, for being so flat.

I support Ajay’s rights and wrongs
