Thank you to Libro.fm for the ALC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Just WOW!! I'm not exactly sure what I just read, but I just flew through a 19 hour audiobook like it was nothing! Narrated by Vidish Athavale, this book was simply the car crash that was described at the beginning of this book!
Age of Vice is exactly what this book is about. Power, drugs, alcohol, women, partying, power,.more drugs, the caste system, more power, more drugs, murder....you get the idea. This book opens with a car crash that just happened and Ajay, wakes up to find himself in the car and accused of murder. This book shows the POV of Ajay, Sunny Wadia and Neda. Each POV tells the story of how they each came to be a part of that first scene in the book, the car crash.
I know I have never read a book like this before. Flat out freaking loved this book!
I went into this book not know it was the first of a three book series, or that there was a streaming deal for this book already in the works. So while I was reading this I thought to myself, that this should be a movie! I can wait for this to come out!
The ending!!! So good, but leaves so many questions!! Bring on part 2!!!! 5⭐

I really wanted to enjoy this one…but just didn’t. First half was much more enjoyable than the rest. Some beautifully written sentences, but the story just didn’t connect for me.
I love this book - love, mystery, so many unique personalities. It was so fantastic.
Unfortunately, I just had a hard time getting into and keeping up with this story. I don't know if I just wasn't in the right headspace, but I couldn't keep a lot of the characters and plot straight for the first parts, and by the time I really started to zone in I was a little lost. However, when I started to find my footing about halfway through, I think Kapoor writes a really thrilling saga of events, and I listened to about 3 hours straight on audiobook because I just had to find out what was going to happen! Overall, I think I will try this again another time, and I hope it gets all of the attention it deserves!

Started off strongly but for me it didn't really go anywhere worthwhile. Didn't like the time shifts either
This book started out so good. I was completely enmeshed in the story of Ajay, the servant. His story encompasses the first 120 pages of the book, and I felt the most invested in his story. But then the point of view switches to different characters throughout the rest of the book, sometimes coming back to Ajay. These characters were so boring and so terrible. I tried to speed through to get back to Ajay's story, but it hardly ever came. The author just seemed for forget about him. I'm not even sure what his purpose in the story was. Again, this book was just boring. It was very violent. There were A LOT of drugs. Every character was detestable. Nothing happy happened. At some point the author switched into some weird poetry/stream of consciousness on some pages. I'm not sure why the ending happened the way it did or what came of anybody. I would not recommend.

this book was not at all what the description said it would be. i was expecting found family or mafia but instead it was a bunch of people going thru a rough time. however the writing was amazing and the characters were fully fleshed out which made it feel like a deep dive into their psyche
