Few of my relatives do any of the things that Todd Parr's apparently do, and I think this one might have upset me as a child, made me feel left out, because I didn't have a cozy kind of relationship with either grandmother, although I loved them both dearly.

This is very sweet. However, I generally don't like absolute statements in picture books, such as "all grandmas like to hear from you." Unfortunately some kids (young Pearl included) don't have positive feelings about or experiences with their grandparents, so those statements just aren't true. That definitely detracted from my enjoyment of the story.
