I honestly stopped caring 3 hours into the audiobook.

Dylan is a "nice guy", his best friend Marcus is a twat, and Addy is a bit more likable but honestly I got sick of her too.

This is probably my least fave of Beth's works which also includes The Switch.

Ah, well, up and over.

The Road Trip follows a group of people travelling to a wedding together after their cars crash. In one car is Addie and Deb who are sisters and Rodney a random person needing a lift and the other car happens to be Dylan Addie's ex and his best friend Marcus.

Duel perspective following Addie's and Dylan's relationship at the beginning and being forced together in a car.

I’m a bit conflicted on this one! I think in the end I liked the story a lot but there was a lot of frustration getting there which made the read less enjoyable, but also made for a good book.

Things that annoyed me (maybe sort of spoilers???)
-Marcus obviously
-Jumping forward and backward in time only getting tiny bits of the story until the very end
-Friend group reminded me of magnolia parks (a book I did not finish bc I couldn’t stand the toxic friendships)
-The overall fact that Dylan never stood up for Addie and couldn’t see Marcus blatantly trying to break them up

The fact that all of this comes together and gets resolved quite well at the end proves to me it was all worth it and it was all calculated on the authors part but I was truly about to go crazy at times. So enjoyment level.. 2/5 but everything else 5/5??? I guess I went into this hoping for a lighthearted rom com but that is not what I got

Eurgh. I hated every character in this book. They were so selfish, spoilt, and lived in their own bubble. Pretty much every relationship (of any kind) was toxic and yet OF COURSE pretty much everyone finds redemption in the end.

Why Addie even wanted to be with Dylan is beyond me. He's a man who can't make up his mind about anything, follows people around rather than doing his own thing, and thinks that occasionally writing 1 line of poetry means he should be able to build a career as a full-time poet. And as for why anyone put up with Marcus is a mystery. Presumably he was meant to be the life and soul of the party but he was just another guy living on his daddy's money and being an idiot.

Oh, and Dylan's parents live in a house that could be bought by the National Trust??? What a weird throw away to the "plot".

If you want to read a book about a girl who meets a guy, is treated terribly by him and his rich mates, almost gets raped but is too shamed to tell her boyfriend and so he dumps her, and then takes him back two years later when she's finally in a good place then this will be right up your street. Otherwise, avoid it.

Just another sweet story by this author. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't vibe with their relationship during the first flashback, but it quickly became very engrossing and I wanted to understand their history immediately.
