I enjoyed the characters in this book although I will say that I didn't picture them to be as old as they were. The book seemed to place an emphasis on the fact that sometimes shame is a powerful driving force but that you can do the right thing and be honest as secrets never help in the end.

I liked the stubbornness of both characters and how they changed for the better but that their core characteristics were always good. The secondary characters were interesting and good additions, I felt like they were meant to be there and helped to build the story.

I enjoy Lucy Score's writing style and I think that it's impressive that a 570 page book did not feel like a long book to read. The pace was good and the story developed in a natural way and I finished it in two days easily.

“By a Thread” was given to me at my book club’s Spicy Themed Book Exchange this year. I loved the plot and I do love a “grumpy boss romantic comedy” as promised on the cover. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it because it is SO DAMN LONG. Which is exactly how I felt about the other Lucy Score book I read, “Things We Never Got Over”

I love the writing and her spice scenes are 🤌 perfection. But there’s so much plot and fluff around it that gets a little predictable and over the top. There was so much there I liked but I just find it hard to read a 500-page romance!

The plot was fun and I loved the characters. Ally gets hired my Dominic’s mom to work at their fashion magazine after Dominic gets her fired from her waitressing job. Obviously, they fall in love but since it’s 500 pages, SO MUCH other stuff happens.

If you LOVE romance, you will love this. But if you’re an occasional romance reader or are trying to get into it, I wouldn’t recommend. I’m going to start a petition for Lucy Score to write some shorter books!

If you love slow burn, great banter office romance this one was so good!! This was a great meet cute and I love how feisty Ally is and stood up for herself. Dom is the perfect grump with a world on his shoulders. I love their interactions together and so many funny moments. The side characters were great too and added depth to the story.

This book can be devided into two parts:
The first deserves between 2.5 stars to 3. Is it memorable? Not really. Is it entertaining? Hell, yeah! The first part is ur typical rivals to lovers with bickering couple. My only problem is with their age. The man is in his 40 and refuses to be with the FMC cause his dad was accused of sexual misconduct. I repeat the MC is in his 40 and DOEASN'T KNOW HOW TO DIFFRENTIATE BETWEEN CONCENT, HARASSMENT, AND RAPE. also, the way the 2 characters fight is childish, it'  really unfit fr ppl in their 40s 😑. However, this part is passable if u imagine them in their 20s.
The second part is shit. It deserves 0 and reduced the book experience from 2.5 to 0.25. Let me tell u the way the MC pulled his asshole move made him shit beyond compare. The MC is already not that amazing 🙄. I mean he is a 40 smthing dude that still dsnt differentiate comsent from non consent and blame all his issues on his daddy problems. Not the best MC out there and to top it with that last problem. This dude deserves the trash and that is all. The resolve of the problem was also very demmening to the FMC like lady where did all that self esteem go.
My advice to romance authors, this is smthing I noticed in many books, stop when it's time to stop u dnt have to drag the damn book. Also, if u want to write mature characters please do them justice. People tend to evolve the older they gt 😑 or make them young.
