Very interesting to see behavioral science applied to the field of dating. I recognize a lot of these strategies from my uni class and the books I read, so it was just fun to see how it can be applied.

I think it's a good rational book, helpful for people who like to look at science insights for their daily life. But only touches on lots of interesting topics, would recommend reading some other books on the topic of love and relationships as well.

Okay, if the other self-help-y dating book I read was a hug and little rub on the back, this one was a little perkier, a little harsher — not a slap so much as a persistent poking. hey, “spark” isn’t real! You have to actually swipe and message ! If you go to concerts or events to meet people, you must actually go up to those people and talk. stop being so picky! any one of a number of partners is could be good, just commit to one already! just hurry the fuck up ! you should probably stick it out bc no one’s perfect, but don’t forget to ask if they want kids or not! there’s a lot going on. Most things were familiar, but I’m not sure I agree w all of her advice. the demographic of the book seems to be late 30s singles / serial monogamists w ticking biological clock; stakes are high.

while all of it, from psych study snippets with catchy names to the weirdly up to date cultural references, felt very buzzfeed, and I don’t think I would ever /pay/ for a session with her that amounted to just widening dating app screener preferences, maybe for those a little further along and indecisive on what constitutes THE vs a good enough partner would find it helpful. in some ways, though cheesy, it’s good to see things written out.
