I don't love everything about this book. But there is data and science and philosophy to rationalize or support any approach or point of view, so I'm looking for practicable guidance for myself. The author is overly dismissive of many small things people may enjoy or do, which is her prerogative, and presents data in what I consider to be a manipulative way at times (the graphs of marriage happiness for instance, look like massive plunges over time because of the scale used, but it's only a small numerical/percentage drop) and I had to set those concerns aside so I could just use the tools she provides. I believe much of the concrete guidance she provides is useful and aligns with guidance given by many relationship professionals and researchers, and would suggest anyone who's reading this (or looking for a book to help with finding and keeping a good romantic relationship) to think about how to apply the tools and strategies in your own life--it doesn't have to look exactly the way she suggests, and anecdotes (upon which she relies heavily) are only one kind of evidence.
