I've been reading (and enjoying) this series quite a lot. Through it all, however, I've found Imogen a spoiled rotten brat who I just wanted to strangle. This was her story - and while she was better in this book - well a little too late as far as I'm concerned!

Ok. It took me a while to get into the story and I'm still not sure I like Imogen. I was in it for Rafe. The side story of Gillian and Gabe was pretty underwhelming. In to the last book, the story of Josie and Mayne, which is presumably the best of the four.

I started this series years ago.  Not sure why I never finished.  A super fun story

It seems this is the third story in the Essex sisters series. As a stand alone, I enjoyed learning about the world of the Essex sisters and Imogens background. I quite enjoyed the feisty conversations between the main hero and heroine. It is difficult to redeem a physically unattractive man with drinking problems but James manages. Just.
It seems, Lady Maitland was quite the little miss in the previous two books and her comeuppance is due in this novel. She did not seem to get much of a consequence, aside from her unsuitable husband dying very quickly after she bungled him into marriage. A fact that has enraged many long time fans, but I had fun watching them all run around with mistaken identities as they all fell in love with their respective partners.
This was a sweet romance with some very light hearted moments. An easy read with some reference to Shakespeare, as in much of James' work, as I am coming to learn.
