This is probably my favorite so far. Mostly because I'm a sucker for the enemies-to-lovers trope and fake dating. But I also really loved the characters in this. Rhett both made me sad, but also intrigued me. And I loved Lucy as a heroine. She is so unapologetically herself, and she terrifies most of the people she works with.
I think that their relationship was perfect. Even when they were fighting, you could tell it was never petty arguments, but came from a place of fear or concern.
The only reason this did not get put onto my favorite shelf was that I felt the 3rd act conflict was a little rushed through. I know that people don't like the trope that it is, but that wasn't my problem. It happened and resolved both seemingly out of nowhere. I would have liked a little more build up with both.

"I hate that I'm getting to know my wife..."
*
Rhett, the bad boy of the NHL, is used to a scandal or two. But he never expected to land in the tabloids because he's gotten hitched! Oh no, Rhett is not the marrying kind but when he wakes up next to Lucy, the teams PR manager, in Las Vegas with matching wedding bands there's only one thing for it - fake it! Rhett's career can't handle another scandal so Lucy and him agree to pretend that they planned this whole marriage thing and are madly in love. The problem with playing pretend is that the lines blur between fiction and reality and soon Rhett finds himself beginning to like his wife!
*
"He looks at you like you're his next breath. Like your his reason for existing..."

This is the third book in the Nashville Devils series and, like the other two, its such a quick and easy read that I completely enjoy! I always love that we get dual POV too and the tension and spice are always top tier! This time the trope was accidental marriage and forced proximity. As much as I loved Rhett and Lucy I also felt like something was missing that Tag and Lincoln's stories had - maybe because Rhett was a relatively new character. I wish we had been given more clarity as to what happened in the club at the start of the book. Looking forward to Foster and Avery's story next!

"You're the f*cking stars on a dark night and without you, I'm simply lost..."

Fine enough enemies to lovers fake marriage hockey romance. Decent spice. Some good banter. Won’t remember it but it was a fun read!

A quick read, it moves pretty fast and is mostly focused on the characters and their relationship and how this affects those around them. We get a bit more of their backstory, especially Rhetts and it explains a lot about him but really doesn't excuse some of his behaviour. I generally liked him, he had a tough shell for a reason but was fiercely protective of those he cared about. I liked Lucy, she was strong and didn't back down and gave as good as she got with Rhett.

I'm a bit bored of the
third act breakups that don't need to happen and the apology as 'grovelling'.
But I liked them as a couple and I liked that Rhett opened up a bit and that they both were happy. I also liked Rhetts sister and am intrigued by her story.

ahhh, this book! this one has so many of the tropes I love…grumpy x sunshine, workplace romance, rivals-to-lovers, vegas wedding AND marriage-of-convenience. it really has it ALL!!

not only that, the characters are two of my favorites in this series. lucy is the elle woods character, and I know you know exactly what I mean. she is bubbly and pink, while being professional and ruthless when needed. she is also a fixer—and that is exactly what she was trying to do when she flew across the country to save a hockey player’s career before his bad attitude ruined everything. after something got slipped into their drinks, lucy wakes up married to rhett. her client, aka nhl’s bad boy. lucy decides to play into the whirl-wind romance for a few months to save rhett’s image in front of the world, and rhett agrees to play her loving (and brooding) boyfriend for her parents. lucy begins to learn that there is a lot more to rhett than his reputation. not only that, but the attraction between these two started waayyy before their drunk wedding though.

This newest book in this series is...fire! Rhett and Lucy are so great together. The sexual chemistry that they shared was enough to melt the ice. Romance readers who love a good enemies to lovers troupe will want to pick up a copy of this book.

Besides the attraction between these two, it was also the witty banter and Rhett's rough around the edges attitude that got me hooked. If I woke up to find that I was married to someone, I would not mind it being someone like Rhett. Additionally, it was nice to see the players in action a bit with some skating being featured. What is a sports romance without some of the sport. Plus, I am a sucker for a hockey player. Broody Devil is just what I need to keep the temperatures hot during the winter months!
