What a delightful book with sparkling, witty dialogue. Took .75 of a star off for a bit of sexism in the book, though nothing too over the top for the time period and it doesn't disrupt the flow.

I think this is one of my favourite books. It was funny and odd and thoroughly enjoyable. Also a product of its time- the kitchen isn't clean so we'll call her a slut haha

Really liked this book. Sweet and light-hearted. Quick easy read that makes you feel good about yourself and the world even if it took place in the 1920s

вініфред ватсон розповідає про те, як багато можна встигути за один день. звісно, для цього потрібно мати правильний досвід, зустрітися з правильними людьми й потрапити у правильні ситуації. але насамперед треба дозволити собі – бо зміни залежать від цього.

First: trigger warning. It does reflect the attitudes of the day. Gender roles and 'othering' assumptions are present and they clash noisily with what is, otherwise, a delight from start to finish.

I loved it! I had never heard of Miss Pettigrew prior to it's selection for book club. I was very pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the transformation of an introverted, stuffy spinster into a compassionate, fun-loving friend (with enough room to maintain her lady-like demeanor). Miss Pettigrew's quirkiness was charming. I also enjoyed the author's thorough, and many times humorous, descriptions of attire of the time. The discussion of silk vs wool made me smile.
