Here's the thing, if you tell me I am going to read a horror novel I will want to read a horror novel.

This book started off strong, there is no denying that the first scene in the book is hair raising. However, then it becomes a mystery/thriller until the big reveal and the book's climax. As a thriller the book is good, but as a horror novel, it is just okay.

This may even be more of a 4.5, but I just finished so I'll need some time to reflect.

I knew there was a mystery and a sinister feeling while Mars tries to understand what happened to Caroline and what happens at the Aspen summer camp. However, I didn't expect it to go the way it did but am delighted. There were confusing moments where you're not sure if Mars is just crazy or not but it is totally worth it to see what plays out !

A good mystery until 2 thirds, and the last third an amazing body horror. The fact that it had quite good body horror towards the end made me wish it had had more throughout, but I did really love this book for fans of queer horror/mystery.

Honestly a really good read. The writing is very poetic and beautiful and you can really feel the emotions and atmosphere from one scene to the next. I also loved the Hereditary vibe it gave off, like Ari Aster meets beekeeping on acid.

probably the weirdest book i’ve read (that’s not an insult). super trippy and strange. the whole book had me questioning what was real and what was imagined. the ending was wild and not something i expected. i was not super intrigued by the main plot but the way the author described some of the more psychedelic moments really kept me intrigued on WTF was happening.
