5 stars for the beginning and the end. The middle, not so much. It was hard to maintain my interest but overall loved the story. The last 100 pages *chefs kiss*
Moderate: Gore
Minor: Suicide

Just….just so much goodness in one book. For those of you who, like me, hated Bunny by Mona Awad, this is what it tried to be but failed at. This had everything I wanted from Bunny (cult vibes, cliques, sassy and smart main character, mystery and thriller elements) but didn’t get.
The Honeys is dark and full of twists and turns as well as surprises. But manages to conclude itself in a satisfying way that felt good. You as the reader feel rewarded by the end.
On top of the thrilling element and mystery, we also get great metaphors and discussions around queerness and gender fluidity. Which I found eye opening as well as well written.

Graphic: Homophobia and Transphobia
Moderate: Murder, Death, Suicide, and Gore
