I don’t mind dark romances, but not this dark.
There were two rape scenes in the 40% of the book I read and I couldn’t do it.
I got a general idea of the entire plot and i wanted to read it, but the gore and details were too much. While I understand the nature of the topic that surrounds the plot and how it is, in reality, dark and horrific, I couldn’t read it.

OMG where do I even begin! From the first chapter I was instantly drawn in to the mystery of this book. I don’t normally go for this type of novel but I’m so glad I decided to give it a try. Zade by far is the creepiest but sexiest character I have read that it was hard to not fall in love with him. This book does get very graphic so that warning in the very beginning is no joke. I don’t like cliff hangers normally but thank you Jesus that the second part is available. There were moments that made me say “WTF” multiple times and had to stop reading to give my mind a break but then there were other times that I just couldn’t stop. I highly recommend!

Not really my thing to read but read due to everyone’s hype. Started skipping through certain scenes as it wasn’t for me, I did like the actual plot of what they did for their jobs and the ending of the book although I knew it finished on a cliff hanger, was predictable from Adeline’s pov but was surprising from Zades pov and in the end the person behind it all. I enjoyed the murder mystery behind Gigi so the actual story line itself was good. For obvious reasons that most people have not read the book, is the reason I only gave it 3.75. Overall a book I read quickly as I wanted to find out more.

This book dives heavily into intense and dark themes, so please take extreme notice of the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. However, if you're drawn to sinister storytelling, the dual perspectives of the Manipulator and the Shadow offer a gripping narrative. The ending left me eager to download Hunting Adeline.
For fans of dark 'romance,' this is worth exploring. But, if you're sensitive to these themes or not a fan of dark romance, skipping it won't be a huge loss. Personally, while well-written, it wasn't a must-read for me.

One of my new favorite books. The subject matter is definitely very dark and people should absolutely be aware of that before trying to read these books. At least for me, the subject matter wasn't enough to turn me off, and in reality, I truly loved both the story and the author's style overall. Carlton has a wonderful writing style that flows exceptionally well and still feels completely natural. I constantly found myself enthralled and reading for hours on end with ease. Addie, as a character, was a bit annoying at first but I got used to her personality over time and I loved Zade and Daya (Addie's best friend).

Very curious now to see how I'll handle the second book.

Extremely poor writing that came across as Q-Anon's wet dream. Author had clearly never been to Seattle nor researched the region when describing the book's setting, extremely unrealistic portrayal of sex trafficking, and very poorly developed characters, not to mention the unredeemable rape scenes. I do not understand the hype and actively advise against reading this.
