Enthralling and intriguing. My one qualm is the fact that the two explicitly Asian characters were Asian women with older white male husbands? Questionable but alas.

This was totally lost on me. I didn’t get it.

I love Jennifer Egan — I have read all her books voraciously! I also really liked the continuation of characters (from Goon Squad) to this story, but I must say that I liked Goon Squad better as I found the characters and storylines more deeply developed. Sometimes it was sort of confusing to draw connections in this story, especially with the intricacies of those who wanted to dive deep into the world of shared memory and increasingly invasive tech (Mandala) versus those who wanted to “elude” this technology and maintain some semblance of individuality and personal agency (Mondrian). I will say, this topic of concern and tension due to increasing human technological capabilities is so interesting and quite relevant, albeit scary to think too deeply about!

Loved the goon squad, not so into this. Didn't grab me in the same way, didn't feel attached to any of the characters, and not keen on the sci fi elements

Everyone who thought I was already super annoying about A Visit From The Goon Squad- buckle up!

Much more fleshed out than Goon Squad, and definitely a more satisfying read in its entirety. Some of the characters will stick with me for a long time, as well as the near-future tech-topia scenarios and their fallout.
