Brilliant, Love this book. Listened to it, now want to read it as well. Especially loved Lulu's story. Cool how the characters intersect and connect.

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

Just been in a general reading slump and couldn’t get into it in the way that I wanted to. It also has a sort of scary techno (non) utopia vibe that feels a bit too real right now

One of the hardest reads I’ve done. Had a hard time getting started, but once characters began to intersect, it became much easier to read and more exciting. I had to flip back and forth between chapters several times to figure out what was going on. Overall, very good with several characters that I have found myself thinking about even after finishing the book.

I had higher hopes for this book. Interesting premise. Way too many characters. I couldn’t keep track of any of them, which kind of just ruined the book for me.

Never trust a candy house… but trust Egan. I trust Egan’s writing and her perspective. That even when I don’t have the most clear understanding of what’s happening or why, that I will be better or think differently after having read it. I feel like she is a one of one author and though I liked Goon Squad more, the theme and more music-focus, this was still very good. And I wish I could say more! But I’m at a loss atm… perception of ourselves and others, others’ perception of us… the intersection of people’s lives, the birth of an idea, the inherent disguises we assume everyday, authenticity, technology… all of it. Candy House has got it.
