Para quem tem muito interesse na segunda metade do século XX e já saiba minimamente o que aconteceu, este livro é incrível! É a transcrição de um documentário com o mesmo nome e vai desde o final da segunda guerra mundial até ao posfácio com a guerra ao terrorismo.

A guerra fria, na sua generalidade, durou 45 anos. O que quer dizer que englobou imensos acontecimentos em toda a parte do mundo. Portanto, o livro não foi sempre fácil de ler, não aconselho a alguém que só queira saber um pouco ou que tenha apenas curiosidade no tema.

No entanto, a linguagem é muito acessível, todos os argumentos seguem uma linha lógica de ação reação em vez de apenas serem debitados cronologicamente.

Adorei saber mais sobre a década de 60 na América, mas o que realmente gostei neste livro foi a história do lado soviético, que nos é descrita de forma profunda e interessante. Também gostei muito de saber mais sobre o conflito entre Israel e os Estados árabes etc.

Gostei imenso de ler este livro, foi uma experiência incrível. Demorei a ler, mas aprendi muito e consolidei imensa informação.

I don't recommend this book if you are just looking for an overview of the Cold War. In this, we are presented with 45 years of history. Therefore, a lot of important historical events happened and in this book we have them all. This means that the book was not always the easiest to read.

On the other hand, the language was easy to understand and the arguments were put in a very logical way. It begins after the second world war and it ends with an afterword explaining what happened after the end of the Cold War. It did a good job linking this to the war on terror.
I consolidated a lot of my knowledge of the sixties and I learned more about the USSR and the Israeli conflict.
