FALLOW was such an emotional addition to this series because it brings Griffin back to the small farming town of his childhood as he attempts to save his mother from magical forces. While Whyborne and Griffin are both concerned about the return of the Masters, we don't see them in this book and instead we see more of the Fideles cult. Once again Christine and Iskander accompany them on their journey and it was great to have more of them. Everything is definitely building up to what seems like a huge battle and I'm curious to see how everything plays out.

This series is so consistently excellent, I think Jordan L. Hawk uses some of the same magic she writes about, to tweak each page for that little extra something. Ival and Griffin are as strong and loving as always, Christine is her usual delightful self and the story is just as fast paced and interesting as the ones before. As usual, I rushed through it to find out how it would all end and, as usual, I am bereft at the thought of waiting another 6 months or more for the next book.

Another excellent story that fans of the series will adore. 5 stars

4 Stars!

Once again, JLH delivers on this duo who have grown from reluctant participators in the supernatural madness they find themselves embroiled in, into full out champions of humankind! I for one can’t help but rally behind such heroes!

Here, the weight of responsibility continues to be a heavy burden to bear. The return of ultimate evil is on the horizon, and some are planning to take advantage, some are planning on giving succor, and others, like our beloved Whyborne and Griffin, are determined to do all in their power to subvert such.

This latest installment continues to reveal more of what other fanatical groups are doing in the wake of this doomsday predicament. Never one to not help out, their faithful friend Christine, with her husband Iskander, show their support and lend aide in the face of such adversity. Be reassured, Whyborne and Griffin’s love is their strongest asset, definitely guiding their actions and always helping them conquer their foes.

Still brimming with suspense and quite a bit of disturbing horror, this is full on dreamy romance regarding a well loved established couple. Consistent swoony adventurous terrifying fun!

About: A man from Griffin’s hometown murders a sorcerer before his very eyes, and then must be killed himself. For the corruption inside of him that Griffin can see, is making him violent towards the man, blaming him for something Griffin got no clue about. Yet one thing is obvious. Since this man came from Griffins home, the same one that once exiled him for his nature, then they all back there, including his mother, are in grave danger. And he’s too kind of a soul to just let them die.

Mine: I do like that these books always touch upon LGBT community questions that are relevant in our reality, today. Like, how does one carry on living, when those who were supposed to love us unconditionally – turn away? It’s a legitimate truth some people have to live with, and I hope you all know that you can make your own families, and that you matter. But on the lighter note, for one, I almost cried laughing at Whyborne vs Rooster named Diabolo. And for two, oh how I love Christine! She and Ester Gold would surely be best friends, and they’d go hunt bad guys with magic and shotguns. Does anyone know of such a book? I want to read it.

I guess due to the fact these stories are written in a pattern of “one case per book” – it got a little too predictable for my liking. You know trouble will happen soon, and you know trouble will be solved by the end of it. So I think I’ll take a little break, but give this one a firm 4 out of 5, it was one of the better ones for sure.

I love these characters and I love this series. Ival is so unsure of himself and fears what Griffin would think to know the truth of him; even from the beginning I knew how wrong he is to doubt but it showed how much he cares about his people. Watching Griffin face his mother was sad but I applauded his strength. Christine and Kander are great supporting characters that the series can't do without.

I really need to get the next book!
