Talk about a filler book... This book added nothing to the story but existing so we can call this a trilogy.

This basically just went over what we all saw coming about Cristiano and his business from ten miles away. He's an evil man but he's above human trafficking. The badlands and the stories about it are all a façade; everyone loves living there and they kiss the ground Cristiano steps on. However, a good chunk of the book, not to say all of it, is just Natalia refusing to believe anything that was in front of her that goes against her belief of who Cristiano actually was and expecting the worst from him. That's basically it. That's the whole book.

One of the first times that made me realize she just wanted Cristiano to be the villain was when the little kid came up and showed him that he lost his tooth, the mom mentions that the kid was excited about el Rantoncito leaving him a gift, Cristiano assures them there will be one and looks at one of his men giving him a signal and she takes that as him ordering someone to be beheaded? Are you fucking serious? You see a child approach him with all the familiarity in the world and that's what comes to mind? The way I LAUGHED because she's just so ridiculous is mind-blowing.

Violent Ends picked up right after where the previous book left us. In Violent Ends, we got to see Natalia grew as a character after learning about Diego's betrayal. We also learn more about Cristiano and the man that he really is. With past grudges unresolved between them, Cristiano is chasing ghosts to give himself and Natalia closure. I love the steady pace of the story and the writing is very engaging. On to the last book now.

Violent Ends
White Monarch, Book 2
By: Jessica Hawkins
Narrated by: Emma Wilder, Brian Pallino

Talk about an exciting listen! Jessica Hawkins gives us book two of the Violent Ends series and it is captivating. Picking up where book one leaves off, we have Natalia newly married to her enemy, Cristiano. Never did she think she would find herself in this position. Cristiano is quite a man. Dark and dangerous, he is one to be not to cross, but his love for Natalia is a light in his life. Natalia is confused, frustrated and drawn to this man. But what about Diego? And what of Cristiano's cartel? Can she do what she has to do to keep her family safe? Will her feelings for Cristano break through? I am caught up in this series. It's suspenseful and thrilling, and I am completely invested in this couple. There are times I am unhappy with Natalia's reactions, but can understand her hesitancy. I love Cristiano. His darkness is alluring, and his passion exciting. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next!

Brian Pallino and Emma Wilder are fantastic and I am really enjoying their interpretation of the story. Pallino gives Cristiano a gritty, dangerous feel but his underlying love is evident in his narration. Wilder has Natalia maturing with such emotion that we can feel her changing. It's wonderful and I love it!

I'm freaking out! Just when I get accustomed to how this is going to play out...Jessica Hawkins gives me another cliffhanger!

Not everything is as it seems, I knew that from the beginning of book one, Violent Delights. Now Violent Ends tortures the readers with all we can have like a buffet as far as the eye can see. Possibilities and endless opportunities await yet the lock between us and all we could ever want, need, desire is impenetrable. One unbreakable lock separates us from everything...the key we need to enter the nirvana spread out before us is locked away in Violent Triumphs. Far out of our reach and just enough in our minds to torture us without even lifting a finger. Bravo Ms. Hawkins. If writing doesn't pan out psychological warfare might be more lucrative.😳 Just saying...

The need I felt for Ends is underwhelming compared to the crackling anger floating through my body in a desperate ploy to avenge my need for Violent Triumphs. So be wary of others who have read Ends and avoid your friends post read, I'm afraid it will turn into some sort of zombie apocalypse with our greedy hands grabbing at everything between us and Triumph.
