just brilliant. largely short pieces of poetry that pack incredible punches of emotion and thought provoking-ness.

"what
massacre
happens to my son
between
him
living within my skin.
drinking my cells.
my water.
my organs.
and
his soft psyche turning cruel.
does he not remember
he
is half woman."

this was such a simple yet powerful read, the african lament had me in tears. there is nothing more revolutionary than flowers and four letters, and this book, this book is perfect. i am speechless

Short poems are indeed poems! the feelings she could put just in few words really put me in awe
I felt like she has a lot of hurt inside her and she is letting it all out.
The way she writes is fascinating and beautiful
Love this and hoped it was longer.

Recommended!

The amount of full stops where commas should be didn't help my non-native English comprehension

There's some powerful stuff here but most of it gets lost in a sea of bad to mediocre writing, some of which I'm hesitant to call poetry. Some intriguing ideas are weighed down by the attempt to present them as poems, with quirky line breaks and punctuation. It's really too bad because I did really like some of the writing and themes, but my takeaway was that this could've used A LOT of editing.
