Wish I could give a 3.5. Really enjoyable read, fast paced and romantic, checks all the boxes. Found it a bit cheesy at times and I wish there was more suspense. Overall enjoyed it and looking forward to the rest of the series!

Four stars because I was entertained by this story a lot - not for the quality of the work. I loved the plot, the fact that for fantasy it wasn’t too complex and the love/teen angst was kinda digestible. Ngl Fayre did annoy me sometimes - she kept trying to be a strong independent queen but came off as a simp and a bit of a fool. But her and tamlins chemistry was quite refreshing.
Read a lot like a wattpad YA fantasy but I’m going to try the rest of the series

It has taken me a long dang time to pick up this book and I am glad I did. Don't get me wrong, it didn't blow me out of the water, and I do think most of the value for this series comes from the later books. However, for a book one in a fantasy romance series it did a good job of explaining the world, some major characters within the story and touched briefly on the politics.

I do, however, understand why people would DNF this book at the half way mark. It kept me intrigued regardless so I knew I would have continued, but some of the plot points are quite silly when it takes almost 75% of the book to reach the info dump of an explanation as to why things have been as they are.

Feyre's blind love for Tamlin is a whole kettle of worms I'm not interested in exploring, save for the nagging feeling this was pulling a Shadow & Bone on me... a relationship purely for convenience and nothing else.

Overall though I enjoyed the story, the writing was for the most part easy to follow and I had no issues wasting a good few hours here and there within the book.

Now if only I can get more Lucien...

I wasn't a fan of Maas's Throne of Glass series. But I thought I can't let that sway me, so I read the synopsis of this. Fae? Fairytale retellings? I wasn't sure about this. I put off reading it for a long long time, but finally decided to just give it a go... and I'm so happy that I did because I loved it! To be honest, I think the blurb/synopsis kind of put me off a lottle. I'm just not a fan of faeries and magical kingdoms etc. I tend to get confused a lot early on with books like this and end up giving up (HA that's my own fault I guess) but everyone was going on and on about how this is an amazing Beauty and the Beast retelling and I just couldn't NOT read it. I had to. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourites.
