Colonization from the perspective I don’t prefer. Not loving the plot nor characters. Also this read more like historical than fantasy. I’d rather quit instead of giving this like 2 stars. Just not for me. Also the power imbalance in the budding romance has me a bit uncomfy.

I didn't like the way the narration was talking *at* me instead of guiding me through it. At 90 pages in I already felt like I was being beat over the head with the point and it took me out of the story too many times for me to be able to keep going

DNF'd a little over halfway. Didn't think the characters were likeable in the slightest. Thought the story was pretty meh at best. That opening act felt pretty nonsensical. It picked up in the second act, but I still didn't find myself caring about what was going on.
