A delightful book. My mother and I laughed out loud at the ending. The illustrations are charming. Tag yourself I'm the turtle <3

The title really explains it all. Very fun read aloud.

This reminded me of my favorite childhood Little Golden Book, The Tawny Scrawny Lion. There's a touch of humor, and a touch of the morbid, and a surprise ending. Fun! The artwork is fine, though nothing special.

There are some twists and it got me to laugh. If I had a small group it would work for story time because they could see the illustrations.

A book that manages to be both totes adorbs and darkly funny. Fans of Jon Klassen will love this one.

We start with a wide assortment of animals and we find their numbers dwindling. But everything is not as it seems. Or is it?

This book was funny and charming. Good for a laugh, talks about animals, or just for surprises. Very entertaining.

If I could give this six stars, I would. Oh this book is so witty. It's a joy. 'Once upon a time there was a hungry lion...packed into a picturebook with a pile of cutesy little animals. I wonder what will happen next...? The meta-play between narrator's expectations, animal behaviour expectations mixed in with soft, lovable expectations of picturebooks is played with so, so well by Cummins and I adore her for it.
