Definitely the best book in the series. I loved Franco and Gemma together. The Maybe Someday crossover was so cool and unexpected too. Loved. It.

Ended book 3 in tears, just like 1&2!

Though the writing is predictable, it’s also funny and comforting. Just plodding along in messy real life scenarios with music in playing in the background. I very much enjoyed learning more about Franco.

This book is the third in the Bright Side series. I really enjoyed the other two books, so I was excited to read this one.

I liked Franco and Gemma. They were enjoyable people to hang around and listen to their story. I loved that both of them were bad ass in their own arenas and that Franco never assumed that Gemma's career would take a back seat to his own. His humility and regard for her were refreshing.

I found their struggles to be realistic and engaging.

I really appreciated that this book was just a good read, and not the sob-fest that prior books had been. It didn't have the same emotional rollercoaster, but it felt more like the gentle ending of the trilogy. The other books gripped your emotions by the throat, while this one just made you hold your breath from time to time.

I have enjoyed all of Kim Holden’s books. They are thoughtful, uplifting and frequently stirring, and each book celebrates the power of the human spirit. Franco is no different.

It’s book three in the Bright Side series, and I can’t sing the praises of the first two books, [b:Bright Side|22669832|Bright Side (Bright Side, #1)|Kim Holden|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1404654413s/22669832.jpg|42172145] and [b:Gus|23389993|Gus (Bright Side, #2)|Kim Holden|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1430743077s/23389993.jpg|42947815], highly enough. They fit very nicely on my All-Time Favorites bookshelf. This book isn’t a continuation of Kate and Gus’s story though; it’s a distinctly separate plot. Franco doesn’t attempt to be as life changing or emotional as the other books, but it is enjoyably touching nonetheless.

Honestly, I couldn’t even remember who Franco is, but he’s the drummer for Gus’s band. I liked him instantly. He meets Gemma, an English architect, in a bar and he’s immediately drawn to her. Gemma’s work visa expires in a few weeks and then she’s on her way back to the U.K. They quickly form a friendship, and I liked that they don’t immediately fall into bed together despite their mutual attraction. Their brief time together definitely accelerates their romance, but their relationship is built on a foundation of friendship that continually grows stronger. Their shared sense of humor adds to their wonderful chemistry. The challenge becomes how to maintain their special friendship when they live on different continents.

There are some conflicts that test Franco’s character, but time and again he proves what a stand-up guy he is. Gus is featured prominently as Franco’s main source of support, and I thoroughly enjoyed their fun ribbing.

I took off a half star because I could easily predict where the plot was heading. I also think the story would have had a greater impact if the relationship between Gemma and her family was explored more. Despite the slightly fumbled execution, I appreciated every moment of this sweet and funny story. The epilogue is precious and left me with a warm heart. Kim Holden’s winning streak continues.

Note: Franco is a standalone that can be enjoyed without reading the previous books in the series. I do recommend you read them, however, due to their outstanding quality.
