I found there to be too much crying in book two and it felt like a continuation of tears in book three. I also didn’t like how easily bonds 2-4 snapped into place in the last installment. Bond 5 solidifying was even more ridiculous. Then there was an insane amount of coddling and “scooping” Rowan up. It’s been happening for a while but I reached my limit in this book.
The villain is shortsighted in a way that makes you wonder how he got so powerful. It made his poor choices feel like a plot device rather than a character flaw.
Somewhere along the way, I realized that I had no real interest in how this ended (but I also have a pretty good guess because this has been somewhat predictable).

Spoiler
He kidnaps powerful shifters and prefers to break their spirit so that they break their bond willingly instead of forcing the bond to break because he doesn’t want to lose a drop of power. But to what end? He had one prisoner that has been there 9 months without breaking and another that has been prophesied to either make him incredibly powerful or kill him. The stakes felt too high for him to not just forcibly break Rowan’s bond.Somewhere along the way, I realized that I had no real interest in how this ended (but I also have a pretty good guess because this has been somewhat predictable).
