This author's books are really hyped on bookstagram (around the portuguese community, at least), so I decided to give her work a try and started this book. The thing is: it didn't really turn out the way I thought it would. Far from it.

This book started in a super fun way. The way Reese and Chase first meet is hilarious, and their first encounters had me laughing out loud. So why did I dnf this? Well, from the moment she goes to the interview at his company, it just went downhill.

The first time they meet is while Reese is on a date with a boring guy named Martin. And when they meet again, she's dating this guy called Bryant, who's nothing but nice to her as far as we're told. Reese though? She's just straight up being disrespectful, staying with Bryant while daydreaming about Chase. There's one part where Bryant asks if she wants to go on a weekend trip and she says that she has to ask to see if her team will be working on the weekend. When she asks Chase, he says that they probably won't work that weekend. But then he realizes she's probably asking because she has plans with Bryant, and guess what? He changes his mind.

"On second thought, you know what? I think we do need to work this weekend."

And what does our heroine think of that?

"I smiled brightly—although I wasn't sure why the hell I was smiling when he'd just put the kibosh on my weekend at the beach. Maybe because I didn't really want to go with Bryant. Or maybe because the thought of working with Chase all weekend was more exciting than a romantic beach weekend with the guy I was dating."

Great.
Just great.

I also don't see anything great about Chase either. He's just a pushy jerk, but I guess that's okay because he's hot. *eye roll* If he wasn't young and gorgeous I'm sure this would be a story about harassment instead of a romance.
Here's a compilation of Chase being totally inappropriate, and both of them being totally disrespectful to Bryant (who Chase has a habit of calling every other name that starts with B, instead of Bryant).

"So we're good? I apologize, you accept? You're going to kick ass in the interview and get hired, then I'm going to try to get in your pants, and you're not going to let me."

"Fucking hate running. I'll take any excuse I can get to put it off. Showing a beautiful woman the way to my office is at the top of that list of excuses. Especially one who's going to sleep with me eventually."

"You should get rid of Baxter and walk right into my bedroom." Why was I laughing when he'd just told me to dump the guy I was dating and hop in his bed?

"(...) he'd mouthed
You should come home with me clear as day."

"Well then it wouldn't be inappropriate to tell you that while I was in the shower this morning, I closed my eyes and thought of you as I took care of myself."

Wtf? And yes, she's still seeing Bryant at this point.

"Why would you tell me that?"
"Because it's true. And I figured I'd lay all my cards on the table. You're not having sex. I'm not having sex. Thought maybe we could work through our problem together."
"I don't have a problem."
"So why aren't you having sex, then?"
"Why aren't you?"
"Because I'd like to have it with you, and you haven't given in to me. Yet."
"I can't believe we're having this conversation. You know I'm seeing someone."
"I do. That's why we're having this conversation. If you weren't seeing someone, I'd have you up on that kitchen island showing you what I want to do to you, rather than telling you."

She's actually being quite reasonable here, but a few moments after, this happens:

"But...even if I wasn't dating Brice-"
"Bryant," Chase corrected me with a smirk.

Like, seriously?

I was done with this book shortly after this.
So yeah, this book was not for me. The writing wasn't that bad though, so I might give Vi another try in the future, after I forget this book exists.
